“There are lots of friends around the world that you haven’t met yet.” – Claudia Liebmann

Well that’s an absolute banger of a quote.

If you followed my Stories last week then you saw that Lex and I were in Gstaad, Switzerland to watch a volleyball tournament.

Fortunately for my jet-lagged brain I didn’t need to worry about keeping my eyes open to find a lesson in the experience to share with ya’ll. Instead, Lex and I were fortunate to meet up with InstaHomie, Claudia Liebmann, and she shared the quote above, very nonchalantly while Lex and I were being tourists and eating Raclette.

I’m honestly not even sure if she remembers saying it, but it definitely registered for me, and I did mental Kit Dynamite arm pump “yes” becauseI knew she’d written this email for me.

So, I’m going to let her do that.

“There are lots of friends around the world that you haven’t met yet.”

Listen, I know travel is expensive and things aren’t great right now, but you don’t have to get on a plane to live Claudia’s message.

As much as I love being alone, any time I leave my house I stay talking to people. Lyft rides are never silent, and it’s my own damn fault.

But, to me, making the most of this one short life we’re given ultimately comes down to the people we choose to spend it with. And while I absolutely believe that part of that message means spending as much time as possible with the folks we enjoy the most, I think another part is about experiencing new people and learning about what they enjoy the most.

Gonna wrap this up because we board our eleventy billion hour flight back to the States in a few minutes, but I’ll leave you with this:

The only way out is through, and the only way through is together.

So many of us are looking for things to do and ways to help, but perhaps believing that it’s only helpful if it’s some grand gesture that impacts thousands.

Start with the people around you.

Say hi. Be curious. Listen.

“There are lots of friends around the world that you haven’t met yet.”

Happy Tuesday, Reader.

Maestro out.

Two of my favorite people have recently each launched their own answer to the current question that seems to be on everyone’s mind: “What can I even do?” Resource 1: First up, my actual brother, Justin Dennis (check out the podcast episode I did with him), has returned to Instagram and started an account called @RootedConnection, for those who...

At least once a year I mess up on the email segmenting and give my entire list a little bonus email. It be like that sometimes. Much appreciate your understanding, and shoutout to those of you who kindly hit me up to let me know about the SNAFU. Whenever I sit down to write these emails, part of me wants to start them by saying some Maestrofied version of...

More than as an advertisement (though, clearly, I’d love to have you subscribe), I’m sharing the post because the sentiment has really been ringing true for me lately, and it felt too helpful to keep behind a paywall. If you’re a Maestro Musings subscriber, I promise an extra entry in this Saturday’s Slow Drip. Without further ado, last Thursday’s entry: Don't Make...
