Second Time Susan

Whatup Reader!

Did you know that in Gstaad, Switzerland for just $2.50 you can get the most delicious protein drink that has only 4 ingredients (skim milk, milk protein, cream, fat-reduced cocoa powder) AND 40 grams of protein?!?! The US could never.

Let’s chat.

If you’ve been around these parts for a bit you know I’m quite fond of the moniker, Last Minute Lucy. I use it endearingly to try and encourage the folks who like to drag their feet to pick ‘em up and do the thing.

On the other end of that timetable we have First Day Frans, a group for which I will always volunteer as tribute. 🙋🏽‍♂️

Today I’d like to add a third member to the list, someone whose title speaks more to how they take on life as opposed to how they take on sales: Second Time Susan.

So back to that most delicious protein drink.

This time last year Lex and I were doing all the cramming and final tasks, getting ready to take a flight to DC, so that we could hop on another flight to Zurich, so that we could catch a train (three actually) to Gstaad to watch some professional beach volleyball with the alps as a backdrop.

It was a somewhat “last-minute” trip as we waited for confirmation that our friend Kim was going to be playing, but we rolled with it, including figuring out the food situation. Lest you think I’m some uncultured swine labeling Swiss cuisine “food situation”, Gstaad is very much a winter destination, which means fewer things are open for summertime visitors, and also there are just fewer options in general.

But Kim was a Second Time Susan, and so the first place she took us was to the Coop Supermarkt Gstaad.

That first trip to the Coop I took a chance and bought one “high protein chocolate drink” amongst a handful of other groceries.

The next day I had it for breakfast and then proceeded to go back and buy 6 more, one for each of the remaining days of our trip.

Fast forward a year to present day, while there’s the typical mild scrambling that precedes every prolonged trip, Lex and I are fully in control in the driver’s seat, this time playing tour guide and travel agent for the group of friends we convinced to join us in the land of fine chocolate. (Who wants to place bets on how many pounds Lex brings home this time?)

Things are easier for Second Time Susans.

And while I’m sure that folks who love finding problems for every solution could come up with exceptions to this rule, I’m going to choose to think horses when I hear hoofbeats.

I have been doing quite a bit of batching of work in preparation for this trip, but in between all of that I’ve been putting out feelers for a new content creation accountability and consistency offer that I want to launch. The response has been really exciting, and I now find myself constantly noticing things that are helpful when it comes to building consistency, in this case, doing the same thing more than once so you can lean into that Second-time Susan energy.

First attempts are full of unknowns and uncertainty. Honestly, so are second attempts, but there are fewer and you are that much more experienced.

You and I both know that whatever outcome it is that you’re seeking, irrespective of domain, it’s going to take a whole lot more than two attempts. What I hope you’ll take from this email is that those attempts can in fact get easier, and protein drinks absolutely do not need to taste like chalk or cost an arm and a leg.

Happy Tuesday, Reader.

Maestro out.

PS – It’s not too late to join the interest list for the new offer. Last Minute Lucys are welcome here 😉.

Read time: 1 min 33 sec Whatup Reader! That subject line is giving resignation vibes but we’re actually bringing Cardi B energy to this email. Y’all know I’ve been deep in all things messaging, and part of that has included attempts to do something that I don’t do all that often: read some books. Now, the reason I’m not so fond of books is quite simple: People be saying too damn much. Get to the point already! 300 pages to say what could have been delivered in a single chapter? It’s giving...

Read time: 2 min 31 sec Whatup Reader! A few weeks ago, I lost a battle to a cone while play beach volleyball. Let the record show that it was one of those flat donut cones, not a huge pointy one. I wear glasses but my eyesight isn’t that bad. Either way, I lost the battle and the big toe on my left foot has been jacked up since. Fast-forward to last week and I was chatting with the homie, Dr. Becky, pelvic floor PT extraordinaire who just so happens to have quite the penchant for the...
