I’m not sad

Whatup Reader!

Sliding in today to give you the permission you don’t need to change directions.

There’s plenty of memes out there that say that every day is an opportunity to start all over again and while I think there’s a bit more nuance than that and some planning is definitely required, the sentiment that any day is absolutely the right day to make the decision and take the first step in a new direction, is very accurate.

I’ve run my Instagram Intensive for six years. I’ve taken 550+ professionals through it. I’ve gone through 16 rounds, which loosely figures to be around 225 hours of live teaching for just that one program. I’m ready to move on.

It’s true, I’m not sad to be ending the Intensive. I think if I was sad, I wouldn’t be ending it just yet.

I’m ready.

I’m proud of what I built. I’m grateful for everyone who has joined me. And I’m also ready to move forward.

This is not to say that sadness or the lack thereof should be your indicator as to when it’s time to move on. As always, do you. But for me, in this situation, it reads as readiness.

What direction am I gonna go in now? What’s going to fill that void and replace that time? I don’t know.

I think one of the best things we can use space and time for is observation.

Observe how you feel and be open to whatever comes.

I’ve clearly already got something new percolating with ChatGPT Curious, but even with that I did not start it with the end in mind. I started it because I needed to get the ideas out of my head. What I’ll do with it, or what it will become, time will tell.

I am super fortunate in that I can take some time to figure things out, but, and this is perhaps the main lesson for today, I’m also making a concerted effort to create the time and space for something new to grow, despite the discomfort that it causes.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

So I’m running it back one last time for the Intensive, and then taking a page from Bowie’s book and leaning into the ch-ch-ch-ch-changes.

If you want in on the final round action (and you want to save some monies), you can smash the Maestro Green button below to check out the info page and add your name to the waitlist. Registration opens for my waitlist homies on September 15th, and our first call will be on September 30th. All the dates and deets are on the info page, so hit that up first, and if you still have questions, hit reply and I’ll help you out.

Would love to have you in the Intensive if it makes sense, but more than that, just remember that nothing changes if nothing changes.

Turn and face the strange.

Happy Tuesday, Reader.

Maestro out.

Two of my favorite people have recently each launched their own answer to the current question that seems to be on everyone’s mind: “What can I even do?” Resource 1: First up, my actual brother, Justin Dennis (check out the podcast episode I did with him), has returned to Instagram and started an account called @RootedConnection, for those who...

Read time: 2 min 13 sec Whatup Reader! First off, apologies for the extra email I sent ya’ll yesterday that was intended for my Mafiosos. At least once a year I mess up on the email segmenting and give my entire list a little bonus email. It be like that sometimes. Much appreciate your understanding, and shoutout to those of you who kindly hit me up to let me know about the SNAFU. Whenever I sit down to write these emails, part of me wants to start them by saying some Maestrofied version of...

More than as an advertisement (though, clearly, I’d love to have you subscribe), I’m sharing the post because the sentiment has really been ringing true for me lately, and it felt too helpful to keep behind a paywall. If you’re a Maestro Musings subscriber, I promise an extra entry in this Saturday’s Slow Drip. Without further ado, last Thursday’s entry: Don't Make...
