I’m not sad

Whatup Reader!

Sliding in today to give you the permission you don’t need to change directions.

There’s plenty of memes out there that say that every day is an opportunity to start all over again and while I think there’s a bit more nuance than that and some planning is definitely required, the sentiment that any day is absolutely the right day to make the decision and take the first step in a new direction, is very accurate.

I’ve run my Instagram Intensive for six years. I’ve taken 550+ professionals through it. I’ve gone through 16 rounds, which loosely figures to be around 225 hours of live teaching for just that one program. I’m ready to move on.

It’s true, I’m not sad to be ending the Intensive. I think if I was sad, I wouldn’t be ending it just yet.

I’m ready.

I’m proud of what I built. I’m grateful for everyone who has joined me. And I’m also ready to move forward.

This is not to say that sadness or the lack thereof should be your indicator as to when it’s time to move on. As always, do you. But for me, in this situation, it reads as readiness.

What direction am I gonna go in now? What’s going to fill that void and replace that time? I don’t know.

I think one of the best things we can use space and time for is observation.

Observe how you feel and be open to whatever comes.

I’ve clearly already got something new percolating with ChatGPT Curious, but even with that I did not start it with the end in mind. I started it because I needed to get the ideas out of my head. What I’ll do with it, or what it will become, time will tell.

I am super fortunate in that I can take some time to figure things out, but, and this is perhaps the main lesson for today, I’m also making a concerted effort to create the time and space for something new to grow, despite the discomfort that it causes.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

So I’m running it back one last time for the Intensive, and then taking a page from Bowie’s book and leaning into the ch-ch-ch-ch-changes.

If you want in on the final round action (and you want to save some monies), you can smash the Maestro Green button below to check out the info page and add your name to the waitlist. Registration opens for my waitlist homies on September 15th, and our first call will be on September 30th. All the dates and deets are on the info page, so hit that up first, and if you still have questions, hit reply and I’ll help you out.

Would love to have you in the Intensive if it makes sense, but more than that, just remember that nothing changes if nothing changes.

Turn and face the strange.

Happy Tuesday, Reader.

Maestro out.

Read time: 4 min 34 sec Whatup Reader! So, y’all know that I’m very much a cat person (if you don’t know, now you know), but a little more that 2 years ago I became a dog parent to Moose, the sweetest dog ever, and quickly learned that being a dog parent means walking. Every day. Lucky for me, Moose loves a ride in the Jeep, but could care less about going on a walk. Given that neither of us are itching to just be walking around town, over the past few months I’ve unintentionally cut our...

Read time: 1 min 27 sec Whatup Reader! I know the last few weeks have been story time Tuesdays (much appreciate the positive feedback btw 💚), but sometimes I be using these Tuesday emails to simply give you permission that you didn’t need (but that I know many folks still wait for). Today’s permission slip: Not everything needs to get done. Some things you can just ignore forever. Actual footage of Nike right now: miss jay gif GIF But it’s true. And this is coming from me, the Maestro with...

Read time: 2 min 5 sec Whatup Reader! Sometimes I like to sit and think about hypotheticals. I play out made-up scenarios to see how what the butterfly effects might look like. This time, it was about beach volleyball. I spend no less that 6 hours a week playing beach volleyball. I started in early 2020, right before the world shut down, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Lex andI take lessons twice a week. We play pick-up for a few hours every Friday. We’ve taken a last-minute trip to...
